Everyone loves a royal wedding

I vowed I wouldn't watch it. No way was I going to get sucked in. But I gave in.

There is something about the tradition of a Royal Wedding, jam packed with those archaic medieval Christian rituals that brings out the gooey girl in me. From the royal wave to the kiss on the balcony.

It is kind of scary that I actually remember when Lady Di married Prince Charles. I remember thinking how I wanted a wedding dress just like hers - now it just looks like a giant puffy meringue!

It is kind of scary that I remember Prince William as this beautiful little boy standing at his mother's funeral looking lost and frail. And trying to be brave.

Whether you love or hate the royal family, as part of the Commonwealth we have grown up with them. We have seen the highs and the lows and they have become like the long lost distant cousins that you hear about at family functions. "Oh did you hear that Andy's wife Sarah had a run in with the law? something to do with her taxes."And Lizzy's youngest.. you know.. the one we thought liked the all boys school a little too much? well he's getting married! can you believe it?!" In this age where celebrity gives us more access to the lives of complete strangers we really do have the chance to know them more than some if the "real" people in our lives. The fact that no phones and no twittering was specified on the invites to a wedding speaks volumes.

So what can I say about the wedding that has not been said.

Kate looked absolutely beautiful in her Alexander McQueen gown, Will made me get a tear in my eye when he turned to Kate and told her she looked beautiful, The ArchBishop's hair looked like Doc from Back to the Future when he took that crazy hat off. The choir was so amazing that Dexter felt the need to sing along with them. I was scared for them when the archbishop with the crazy hair pretty much told them if there was some reason that they shouldn't get married and they didn't speak up before they said "I do" that they would burn in hell (I am paraphrasing here). And finally I got impatient and frustrated that they took so long to kiss. But over the moon when they finally did.

Kind of glad I gave in.
