Fireworks and Bubbly

Now that the room has stopped spinning and my head no longer feels like it is going to explode at the slightest noise or movement, I thought I would share my NYE 09 experience.

I have not really been big on New Year's Eve since I was alot younger. My last New Year's before I had Noah was spent partying in Mooloolaba, dancing in the rain and getting in as many pash and dashes as I could manage after a bottle of vodka.( I know I am getting old when I see girls doing exactly that, shake my head and call them dirty slappers!) Since then they have been quiet. I saw the millenium in once again at Mooloolaba beach but this time dying for a cup of tea and checking to make sure my mobile phone was not affected by the dreaded millenium bug. I didn't watch the fireworks at midnight, I watched the highrise buildings nearby to make sure they didn't lose power because the electrical companies weren't prepared for the expected apocolypse.

With Noah turning 17 in November and me realising it is time I actually got myself a life outside of being a mum, I jumped at the opportunity of doing something interesting. So when Gemma suggested we get a boat on the Brisbane River I was excited.

So New Years for me was copious amounts of bubbly, great conversation, laughter, music, spectacular views of the city I call home, beautiful people, fireworks and more bubbly.

Followed by a massive barefoot walk to a train station and almost two days recovery!

After watching the news and seeing all the arrests and moronic behaviour at Southbank and the Valley where we were, I am thankful for a wonderful and drama free night out!

Happy New years all xox
